Samuel came to America with his widowed mother, Jane, from Yorkshire, England in 1643.
They lived on Wethersford Street in Rowley MA. Samuel was a selectman soon after
becoming of age, ordained a Deacon of Rowley Church 18 Feb 1665 and continued to fill important offices until he was slain in King Philip's War at Sudbury,MA 21 Apr 1676.
There is a monument in remembrance of the men who fought in King Philip's War and fell at
Sudbury. His name is among them and his gravestone is in front of the monument showing
dates 1628-1676.
